He has home advantage…

But she’s got a strong defensive play.

Hockey star Troy Green never gives up. Not on the ice. Not when he battled cancer last year. And not when it comes to his new neighbor, Michelle Robinson. Troy only wants to help the struggling single mom and her sweet kids, but soon he’s falling for her. Is Troy finally ready to trade in his bachelor life and become a family man?

EXCERPT!!

Angie was at the door, but not in the kind of trouble he’d imagined.
“Troy, are you going to be home tonight?”
Angie was upset. Was she mad at him? For being home?
“I didn’t have any plans to go out,” he answered.
“Would you be my responsible adult?”
Troy tried to understand just what she was asking. He understood the words individually but he wasn’t normally considered a responsible adult. Wasn’t that exactly why the team was on his case right now?
And he had no idea why Angie needed one when she had Michelle, the poster definition of responsibility.
Then Michelle appeared in her doorway, and all thought fled.
If Michelle had looked like this the first day they’d met in the elevator, he’d definitely have noticed.
Her hair was down and tumbled over her shoulders almost to her waist. She had obviously spent time on her appearance and it hadn’t been wasted. She was wearing makeup: her eyes were smoky, and her
lips...she’d put on bright red lipstick. He loved bright red lipstick. She was wearing a dress that hugged every curve, cut low enough in front to show some cleavage, and short enough to show that she had great legs with a nice curvy butt. Troy had never imagined this woman was living inside his neighbor. He swallowed. And stared.
“What do you think you’re doing, Angela?” Michelle asked with dangerous control.
Ah, Troy thought. That was why Angie was angry.
Angie turned and put her hands on her hips. “I was just asking if Troy was going to be home tonight.
He is, so we can call him if we need help. You can still go out.”
“Sure, I could babysit,” he said.
Both females looked at him. The four narrowed eyes, the two sets of compressed lips—apparently his
picture had been wrong somehow.
“I don’t need a babysitter,” Angie spat out, giving her mom the side eye. “But Mom’s afraid to leave us completely alone at night.” For twelve the kid could really give attitude.
“If you don’t want a babysitter, what are you doing here?” Troy asked.
Angie sighed, burdened by these slow-witted adults. “Mom doesn’t trust us. She got someone to come for the night, just as if we were babies, but that person canceled. I can take care of my brother. I just need a responsible adult I can call if anything happens,” Angie retorted.
“Am I responsible enough?” Troy asked with a grin.
Angie obviously thought so. Michelle was considering.
Then he remembered that stupid thing in LA. His grin faded as Michelle examined him. She’d never
trust him now.
