Title: Everything, Everything
Author: Nicola Yoon
Genre: YA, Romance, Teen
Length: 352 pages
Publisher: Ember
Source: Self
Purchase: Amazon, Book Depository

Book Description:
Risk everything . . . for love. What if you couldn’t touch anything in the outside world? Never breathe in the fresh air, feel the sun warm your face . . . or kiss the boy next door? In Everything, Everything, Maddy is a girl who’s literally allergic to the outside world, and Olly is the boy who moves in next door . . . and becomes the greatest risk she’s ever taken.

My disease is as rare as it is famous. Basically, I’m allergic to the world. I don’t leave my house, have not left my house in seventeen years. The only people I ever see are my mom and my nurse, Carla.
But then one day, a moving truck arrives next door. I look out my window, and I see him. He's tall, lean and wearing all black—black T-shirt, black jeans, black sneakers, and a black knit cap that covers his hair completely. He catches me looking and stares at me. I stare right back. His name is Olly.

Maybe we can’t predict the future, but we can predict some things. For example, I am certainly going to fall in love with Olly. It’s almost certainly going to be a disaster.

Everything, Everything will make you laugh, cry, and feel everything in between. It's an innovative,  inspiring, and heartbreakingly romantic debut novel that unfolds via vignettes, diary entries, illustrations, and more.

My Opinion:
I loved this book. It was imaginative, had a different type of story, was descriptive and had a bit of romance. I loved how the author's idea was original, and how she weaved technology into the story. I was delighted to find that there was artwork throughout the book.
This author had me hooked from the first page till the last with this beautifully written coming of age story. I just didn't want to put this book down. I loved how the author wrote in the text messages between Olly and Maddy. Who could also not LOVE the post it notes used in the story!
For me it was just a delightful read. My daughter also loved it and has called it her favorite love story of all time! (She's 12)
You fall in love with Maddy and Olly. You go on this self awareness journey with Maddy and don't want to come back. All the while turning the pages to see what happens next.
I highly recommend this book. It had everything I love in it. Romance, suspense, betrayal and more! It was an amazing book!

I give the book 5 of 5 stars!

    1. Yes, she is the one who persisted that I read it! We just got the Sun is also a Star by Nicola Yoon. She hasn't started it because she just stared some of the Warrior series by Erin Hunter that she loves so that one is on the back burner.

  3. This one has been on my TBR list for quite a while, especially since the movie came out. But after Fault in Our Stars, I'm not sure I'm ready for another teen romance that features a sickness. Will my emotions be able to handle it?!

    1. Yes, it is based off of the book. It is the same plot but there are some differences in the movie. I loved them both but I read the book first.

  8. I t must be quite a challenge living with this disease. But, I do find those who suffer with such diseases are strong and courageous people who overcome their problems

    1. No you are correct. It is the book the spurred the movie which was equally as good. But, I feel the book was better!

  11. I am always on the lookout for good books for my kids (I add them to my Amazon Wish List, and then when I have a couple extra bucks, I pick up a couple.) I think my 12 yr old daughter would love this as it sounds like the type of story line that would appeal to her based on what she is normally interested in reading.

  14. This does sound like a good book - and it must be true for some people, yet they long for what everyone else does. So when cupid's arrow hits, I must read to see what happens.

  17. Nice review🙂I didn't read the book before watching the movie, but my daughter(13) did. I think she liked the book. The movie was good. It kind of reminded me of another movie I watched, Midnight Sun. It was good , but sad😭
