Audio Description:

This much we do know: Sophie Toscan du Plantier was murdered days before Christmas in 1996, her broken body discovered at the edge of her property near the town of Schull in West Cork, Ireland. The rest remains a mystery.

Gripping, yet ever elusive, join the real-life hunt for answers in the year’s first not-to-be-missed, true-crime series. Investigative journalist, Sam Bungey, and documentarian, Jennifer Forde, guide listeners through the brutal, unsolved murder and the tangled web of its investigation, while introducing an intricate cast of characters, a provocative prime suspect, and a recovering community whose story begs to be heard.

My Opinion:
This starts out in Ireland and a murder that takes place in West Cork, Ireland. We are taken to what happened in that small community and then to the 20th anniversary of it. They are still trying to find the answer to this murder. They go through different peoples perspectives on what happened on that fateful day and if the main suspect was the murderer. The suspect that they have is trying to prove he is innocent.

This is filled with the mystery of what happened to Sophie and the people of this small town and it's secrets. The three castle head is a spooky place and the talk of the white lady that Sophie had seen before her death. Or maybe it's just talk or folklore. This is a well done audiobook that grabs your attention and you find yourself trying to figure out what happened to her with the clues you are given.

It's a journey that I am glad I picked up and was able to listen to. I loved the accents and it drew me to Ireland and it's beauty and it's legends and what the truth really is. They can't even get locals to take them to the house that she lived in. It was a crime that no one really wanted to be a part of.

I enjoyed the narrators but did not like that between each chapter they re-read the credits. I felt this should have waited till the end. It reads like a detective show and has chapters to it(or episodes). I would have liked it to have been read more like a book and have more of a even flow. Instead of stopping, doing credits, and then going back to the story. It stops your flow of thinking about the crime itself.

This is full of suspicion, police investigations and lies. There is only two people who know the truth. The killer and the victim and one of them isn't able to talk. So, who knows, we can only speculate as to who might have done this terrible crime.

I give this 4 of 5 stars as a audiobook about a true crime and it's narration.
