Book Description:

For two and a half years, Subject 684 --- "Jane Doe" --- has been locked underground in a secret government facility, enduring tests and torture. In that time, she hasn't uttered a single word. Not even her real name.

Jane chooses to remain silent rather than risk losing control over the power within her. She alone knows what havoc her words can cause.

Then the authorities put her in the care of the mysterious Landon Ward, and Jane is surprised when he treats her like a person rather than a prisoner. Ward's protective nature causes her resolve to crack in spite of her best efforts to resist.

Just as Jane begins to trust him, though, a freak accident reveals the dangerous power she has concealed for years.

It also reveals that the government has been keeping secrets of its own. Now Jane's ability is at the heart of a sinister plot for vengeance, and she has to decide whom she will trust ... and whom she will help.

My Opinion:

Awesome fantasy read with all the twists and turns that I didn't see coming. I loved every minute of it. I was rooting for 684 the whole time reading this. There was a few spots that I thought could be moved along a little faster but that's ok because the next part would pick it right up and you were happy to read it.

We are taken through to the life of 684 or JD or Jane or even Chip if you want to call her or her real name! She is an amazing girl and is able to put off talking for more than two years by sheer will. You totally get why she did this and wonder about all the horrific things Dr. Vanik did to her. I love that the description was descriptive, but, you can still let your imagination run wild with it.

Poor 684 is used and abused in this book and keeps coming up strong. She is not treated fairly and has no reason to want to go on but she does. She is so strong and it is great to see a heroine that is. I loved seeing her use her powers and I loved seeing her grow in this story. This had the right amount of everything that I can't wait for the next book! Hurry Lynette!! =)

684/JD/Chip/Jane is trying to control her life and not speak to hurt anyone and the reason why is important. The author sets this book up nicely for the next in the series - which I hope doesn't take to long. I can totally see her being a badass in the next book and can't wait to read it. She can change the world and now she can control herself to do it! I can't wait for the next installment of this series. I love the idea of Speakers, Destroyers, and all the different abilities that they have. Amazing written, well thought out, action packed, fantasy novel! I would recommend this book and can't wait for the next!

I give this book 5 of 5 stars!
