#SundayRoundup of #Books #Week #31!!

Welcome to the #SundayRoundup #31
Happy Sunday!

On the homefront:
Took the pups to the vets this week - normal checkups and updated shots etc. They are doing great and the vet always complianments me on their teeth. I do nothing special. I give them rawhides once a week to clean them from tartar. Seems to be working. My 9 year old dog has no tartar and my 2 year old dog doesn't as well.

My youngest daughter needs glasses. We went to go get them and she chickened out at the last second and than argued with me that she didn't want them. I tried to persuade her but it was a no go. She will get them!
We went clothes shopping for school which worked out well. They both have the uniforms that are required and are all set to go! I just have a few loose ends that they need - folders, pens etc. For me this is good because they are basically DONE!

Things I know:
Books are one of life's greatest gifts. Enjoy them.

  3. I’m glad the dogs are doing well. I can understand your daughter not wanting glasses. I’ve had mine since I was a kid, and I’ve always hated them. Have a great week. Enjoy your new books.

  7. Very nice haul of new books. I went a bit crazy this week. LOL I remember having to get glasses and hating it when I was young. Now I love them but they are so expensive! I have to wait until income tax refund to get a new pair right now. I get charged over $100 extra per kens because of my prescription. Nuts!

    1. That's ok, I go a bit crazy myself sometimes. I haven't even shown my post for the Book Outlet...I went nuts not once but twice.

  8. I remember one day in the first grade i went to class and i could see. I as fine the day before. I was in a panic mode because i was/am already deaf. Mom came and got me and took me to the sr where it was found that i just need glasses. I wasn't to thrilled either but i was less thrilled being deaf AND blind. So on they went.

    1. Yes, I can see how that is upsetting. I am glad it worked out for you and it was just glasses. I will keep persuading her. Have a wonderful week.

    1. I am hoping so. Me and her dad wear them. I keep telling her it's not a big deal. Who knows. Have a great week.

  10. Oh dear, I can relate to your daughter not wanting glasses. I had to get them when I was 14 or so and I thought my life was over. LOL But they have so many cool options now! Hopefully she'll come around and realize it's not that big of a deal. I hope you're enjoying Angelfall. I've heard great things about that trilogy.

    1. She is 13 about to be 14 maybe it's the age. But she needs them so, she has to get them. I am enjoying Angelfall. Have a great week.

  11. I'm with you on "Books are one of life's greatest gifts. Enjoy them." I'm so glad I don't have to buy items for school. My parents had to do that for me, but my son's school has where you pay $ to the school and then someone goes out and buys in bulk, so all the kids have all the same items and it lasts the full year. It's great!!! Only thing we had to buy was a new backpack and lunch box. Lovely book haul. I hope you enjoy!
Have a fabulous week and happy reading!

    1. That's pretty awesome. I wish our school did something like that. They don't but it would be cool. Just a few things left so I am not sweating it. Have a wonderful week.

  12. Wow that's pretty awesome about the dogs- had no idea rawhide was that effective. Good to know. I wasn't a big fan of glasses either, had to get them pretty early in my schooling- thank goodness for contacts by the time high school rolled around.

Looks like some good reads... Caraval, Angelfall... hope they're all good!

    1. I don't mind them and me and her dad wear them. She will get them I hope. I hate forcing them on her and really want them to be her decision and pick out something she likes. Who knows. Have a wonderful week.

  13. Wow! You won three books in one week. That's pretty awesome. An a good dental check up for the dogs is always good.

    1. Yes, they say by age 2 dogs teeth can be pretty bad. I am lucky I guess. It's not like I brush them for them. Maybe if I had a lapdog I would brush them. LOL - lapdog. Have a great week!

  14. Winning books is so exciting and I'm happy for you. I didn't care much for Angelfall Penryn & the End of Days. Dystopia is just not my thing.

    1. It is ok, not as great as I thought it would be. I am 50% in the book and don't know why Angels are killing humans. I don't know what happened to then that this is a dystopian. So, don't have much hope for the book.

  15. Books are keeping me sane. I'm happy you sound like you have it all under control. I love back to school, actually I just love office supplies. But cooler weather is nice. I got a rec at one point for Julia Kent and have some of the billionaire ones I haven't read. I did try the start of the random series and it was too random for me. Anne - Books of My Heart

  16. I didn’t want to get glasses either but I really love them now for a couple of reasons. One, they frame my face nicely and two, I can actually see I’m sure she’ll come around to getting them soon!

Hope you have a great week :)

    1. Thanks Amy. I hope she figures that out too. The thing is before we went to go get them she was the one telling me every second she needed them...I'll let you know if she does!

  17. I remember, as a child, wanting both glasses and---believe it or not---braces. When I got them, I hated them. Children can be so wishy-washy!

    Enjoy your semester break!

    1. That would be great if she liked Harry Potter. She has not read or watched a movie. She REALLY like the Warrior/Survivor series and has almost all the books. Plus she LOVES dog books. Like Max etc. But, I will tell her!

  19. Uniforms must make school shopping easier at least. And I keep meaning to read Angelfall!!

  20. Love the 30 Seconds to Mars song. Also glad that it seems like your school shopping is almost over. It's sad but I'm at the point in life where I think glasses are cool. My husband call them my librarian mode (even though I'm not a librarian). Have a wonderful week!

  21. I feel for your daughter! I remember getting glasses and I hated them. It was a battle until I got contacts when I was 11 or 12. Looking back I feel sorry for my mother! I'm sure I was awful to deal with. Have a great week!

School uniform shopping is up next for me this week! The joys...
    Have a good week!!

  25. Sorry that I am so late to stop by, Mary! I am so glad that I didn't have to fight my kids to get them to wear glasses. It can be hard on kids though and I remember my daughter getting teased at first for a bit. Lots of great books that you got to this week. I hope you have had a great week!
